Wedding reception at Milestones Museum Basingstoke

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

What a super unusual venue! Milestones Museum in Basingstoke is open for wedding receptions and events. You can wander amung the exhibits to your hearts content. They even open the 1940’s pub so that you have access to beer and spirits during the evening festivities, unfortunately the prices aren’t 1940’s! There are some great places to have photographs taken, like this one outside the green grocers.

wedding photography - Tylney Hall

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Tylney Hall is a great venue for weddings as it has so much land with so many different features which makes for varied photographs (you don’t have to have the same background all the time). There are 2 stone pergolas with stone steps leading down to them whcih can make for some very different images, see the one below:

Milestones Museum as a wedding reception venue

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

What a great time we all had a Milestones museum for the wedding reception of Jenny and Stewart. Milestones made for a great atmosphere, with plenty of room for guests to wander around. The old style pub was opened and serving beer for the evening and the disco was held by the village green. The lighting is difficult, but make for some interesting shots. see below:

wedding/civil ceremonies at The Old Mill Eversley

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

The Old Mill at eversley is a beautiful venue with some beautifully kept gardens to wander in. The Old Mill itself has been lovingly restored with many original features being retained and the sound of running water is quite sleep inducing. The food is excellent and the venue can handle large or small wedding parties.

Newbury Hilton Hotel Wedding Fair

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Great day on Sunday lots of brides through the door and a couple deffinitley seemed interested in me as their wedding photographer so lets hope the phone rings in the next couple of days.

The Hilton is a lovely modern hotel, some can be a bit cold and soleless, but the Hilton at Newbury is lovely, a nice chandalier as you come in the main door and lots of wood panelling give a warm cossy feeling. THe main room used for weddings is light and airy so good for indoor photogrpahy as well.

Wedding ceremony at Shaw House Newbury

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Newburys’ registry office is in Shaw House, the inside of which is small but beautifully decorated. The registrar is very friendly and makes the ceremony mean something (they don’t all achieve that). It is fairly light and airy inside. the outside has a small patch of grass that can be used for photography with shrubs as a back drop but the sun glares into this space at certain times of day and the rest of place is grey rendered walls, not very pretty from a photographic point of view.

Wedding at Apollo Hotel Basingstoke

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

The Apollo Hotel in Basingstoke is a nice venue with a small area round the back with a pagoda for photographs and in the event of inclement weather there is a large cover in front of the entrance and a nice bright reception area that can be used instead of getting wet outside. THe photogrpah below shows the entrance canopy to the hotel, they usually lay out a red carpet as well for you to walk up feeling like a million dollars on your special wedding day.
